VB/ABA Consultative Services
ICAN of Washington, Inc. provides consultative services and in-clinic options using evidence based practices in the science of Behavior Analysis. Your consultant will:
- Design, implement and monitor home programs based on B.F. Skinner's analysis of Verbal Behavior, using “The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised” (2006) by Drs. Sundberg & Partington and The Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) by Mark Sundberg, PhD, BCBA (2008)
- Provide on-going training of home instructors, parents, teachers, and caregivers in order to effectively carry out the home program and behavior plans
- Establishing behavior plans based on Functional Assessment or Functional Behavior Analysis to descrease maladaptive behaviors and increase functional behaviors.
- Make program-changes based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis and data collection by team member
Consultative Services and evaluation procedures will be guided by the methods of effective teaching found in the literature of Applied Behavior Analysis. Particular emphasis will be placed on teaching your child to cooperate with instructional demands and to communicate expressively based on his or her motivation. The methods and materials developed by Drs. Sundberg and Partington and published in their manuals “The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised” (2006) and “Teaching Language to Children with Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities” (1998), as well as the "Verbal Behavior Milestone Assessment and Placement Program" (VB-MAPP) by Dr. Sundberg, will guide the evaluation and ultimately will guide recommendations regarding teaching procedures for your child. Your child’s cognitive, communication, independent self-care, social and behavioral skills will be addressed within the evaluation.
